This study presents the most important information regarding legal solutions regarding children’s testimony in court in the United States. What is extremely important in this context is how they affect the mental state of children. Therefore, the expert opinion emphasized the importance of the activities of specialists who support minors when testifying in court. The need for legislative improvements was also emphasized, aimed at minimizing negative consequences for children who witness and experience violence, as well as those who testify in the prosecutor’s office, police or in court.
The study also indicates the existence of the Child Advocacy Center, which is involved in supporting multidisciplinary teams in this activity, as well as increasing the availability of specialists, so that all those interested in the proper conduct of interrogations can work together to ensure basic standards of interrogations of minors, which include, for example, handling as soon as possible, and during this period minors will receive the maximum possible assistance.
