The Children’s Aid Society was established in 1875. It is the largest nonprofit child welfare organization in North America.
Its purpose is to ensure the safety of children and young people, strengthen families, and provide alternative care for children who are unable to stay at home. Its competences also include supporting the rights of minors during the justice process.
It is funded by the Province of Ontario. It has a legal mandate to protect children from abuse and neglect. Typically, their beneficiaries come from diverse racial, ethnic and cultural backgrounds.
In this work, Dr. Grzegorz Skrobotowicz presents the competences of the Children’s Aid Society, as well as its legal basis and scope of activities.
